New in the Church Library

“God’s Grace Was Sufficient” by Mary Thurston Hedstrom .  This book was written by the former Oxford Pastor’s wife, Mary Hedstrom.  It is about Mary’s distant relative, Lucy Goodale Thurston, who was one of the first missionaries to the Hawaiian Islands.  After marrying a fellow missionary she had only known for a few days, they set off with a group of other missionaries on the 6 month ocean voyage to the Hawaiian Islands in 1819.  The conditions they found there, the dangers they faced and the changes God brought about for the Hawaiian people make for very interesting and inspiring reading.
